Pi脙卤a-Seda: Pineapple and Silk Cloth from the Tropics

This lecture and workshops will introduce participants to the Pi脙卤a (Pineapple) and Seda (Silk) weaving and embroidery tradition of the Philippines. It will include demonstrations as well as workshops for those who are interested in learning how to weave and embroider using pineapple fiber and silk. Workshop kits will be distributed to those who RSVP at mclariza@hawaii.edu for the lecture while supplies last.

About the Speakers: Dr. Ana Maria Theresa P. Labrador, Assistant Director, Chief Curator, and Head of Collections Management, National Museum of the Philippines. Featuring Kalibo, Aklan Pi脙卤a-Seda Weavers and Lumban, Laguna Pi脙卤a-Seda embroiderers of the Philippines.
