Join us for a distinguished journalists芒鈧劉 discussion commemorating 50 years of EWC media programs

Featuring Keynote Speakers:

Graeme Wood, national correspondent for The Atlantic, will speak on 芒鈧揑SIS Goes East: The Caliphate in Southeast Asia.芒鈧 Wood wrote the magazine芒鈧劉s acclaimed report 芒鈧揥hat ISIS Really Wants.芒鈧 His new book, The Way of the Strangers: Encounters with the Islamic State, recounts the lives and beliefs of ISIS supporters from the U.S., Japan, Australia, Middle East and Europe. Wood was a EWC Jefferson Fellow in 2009.

John Nery, Associate Editor and Opinion Columnist at the Philippine Daily Inquirer, will speak on 芒鈧揟he Growth of ISIS in Mindanao.芒鈧 Born in Mindanao, he is an award-winning investigative journalist, author and book editor, and represents the Inquirer Group on the Executive Board of the Asia News Network. Nery was a 2005 EWC Jefferson Fellow.

With Discussant:

Aneela Khalid, a broadcast and print journalist from Pakistan who has covered terrorism and other issues in that country芒鈧劉s tribal areas for domestic and international news outlets. She was a 2012 EWC Pakistan-U.S. Journalists Exchange fellow.

Moderated by Bill Dorman, Hawaii Public Radio news director and 2015 EWC Korea-U.S. Journalists Exchange fellow.
