Pinay: Culture Bearers of the Filipino Diaspora
October 5, 12:00pm - 1:15pmMānoa Campus, Kuykendall 409A
Copies of Pinay for sale, with proceeds to go to the Women's Filipino Association
The impetus for the collection of personal stories came from the question: What happens to traditional core values of Filipinos if they cease to honor them as they live away from the Country? And if values are maintained, which ones would Filipinos NOT give up because in doing so, they would no longer be recognizable as Filipinos even to themselves? These Filipino writers explore the beliefs, attitudes, practices and rituals they drew on to deal with life's major transitions.
