Te Reo Wainene O Tua (The Sweet Story of Yester-year)

November 3, 5:30pm - 7:00pm
Mānoa Campus, H脛聛lau o Haumea, Center for Hawaiian Studies

Te Reo Wainene o Tua (TRWOT) is an innovative te Reo M脛聛ori storytelling kaupapa that brings together a collective of high profile te Reo M脛聛ori (M脛聛ori Language) advocates and parents. Honoring the deep genealogical connections between the Tangata M脛聛ori and Kanaka Maoli, TRWOT has embarked on their first international collaboration to Hawai芒鈧渋 as part of the Creative New Zealand International Indigenous Art Form Exchange 2015. TRWOT imparts history and M脛聛tauranga M脛聛ori about their tupuna and culture through the traditional oral art form of storytelling in te Reo M脛聛ori. They strive to create career pathways and mentoring opportunities for rangatahi that are interested in this particular art form. They encourage teachers and educators to attend their workshops, as they believe storytelling methods and thought processes have educational benefits for the tamariki and rangtahi. Join us as they share their kaupapa in an evening of storytelling and dialogue.
