Introduction to Design Thinking

Design Thinking is a five-step human-centered problem solving process. It is used by the world芒鈧劉s greatest innovators 芒鈧 Apple, Google, FedEx, GE, as well as leaders in state, city, county government, and educators around the world who are transforming their organizations and culture. In this session, you will experience the design thinking mindsets and philosophy, and go through the process of designing a product with a partner.

Learn Design Thinking by participating in a one-day design challenge (to be announced at the workshop). Design Thinking captures the essence of innovation and puts it into an iterative process that can be taught to anyone. Design Thinking is used by the world芒鈧劉s greatest innovators - Apple, Google, FedEx, GE, as well as leaders in state, city, county government, and educators around the world who are transforming their organizations and cultures. In this session, you engage with, and experience in greater detail, each step in the Design Thinking process - EMPATHY, DEFINE, IDEATE, PROTOTYPE, AND TEST.

You also experience the Design Thinking Mindsets and philosophy.

Raviraj Pare, Natalie Waters, and Ian Kitajima of Oceanit. They lend their design thinking skills on advance research projects for the US Marines, Office of Naval Research, Dept of Energy, NOAA, State of Hawaii (Dept of Education, Dept of Health, Broadband, OIMT, Office of Planning), City of Honolulu, and many others. They have facilitated workshops for over 2000+ people in DT. Natalie has facilitated numerous workshops and boot camps, including the first Intermediate level Hawaii bootcamp in 2014, Raviraj is Oceanit芒鈧劉s Design Thinking guru, and is a graduate of Stanford芒鈧劉s world renowned 芒鈧揹.school芒鈧, and Ian is the co芒鈧恌ounder/co-organizer of the annual Design Thinking Hawaii boot camps, and is an evangelist for Design Thinking inside and outside of Oceanit.
