"Food and Talk Story: For Growth of Self and Activism" with Alex Sosa and moderated by José Barzola ------------------------- Session: Join us for a conversation with Alex Sosa, DJ ‘Ono and General Manager at KTUH. A talk story about Aloha ʻĀina, Public Health, and being a returning adult back to school. Alex will share about his food and talk story project. A project that has become more of a journey into building stronger relationships. The journey of a documented food prepared and shared, and then a talk story that delves into one's life journey and significance of the dish. An opportunity to gain insights into personal narratives, and how we can grow in our own lives and within our communities. ------------------------- About Alex Sosa: Alex Sosa is a currently majoring in Public Health with a focus on Hawaiian & Indigenous Cultures at the University of Hawai‘i at ²ÑÄå²Ô´Ç²¹ (UHM), where he strongly advocates for community engagement. Alex strongly believes that passion drives change. He also serves as the General Manager and DJ ‘Ono at KTUH, a student-run and led radio station at UHM. Prior to UHM, Alex obtained a certificate in Public Health from Kapi‘olani Community College (KCC). While at KCC, he led as Student Congress President during the pandemic, focusing on campus safety and social services. ------------------------- About José Barzola: José Barzola is a highly organized higher education administrator with over 20 years of experience and success in administration, student development within academic and student affairs. José has also been an affiliate faculty teaching courses on peace and conflict transformation, a professional mediator and facilitator for over 10 years both in New York and Hawaii.
