The Center for Biographical Research presents: / 鈥淩eflections on Returning Home to Hawai驶i鈥 / Patrick Kirch, Professor of Anthropology, University of Hawai驶i at 惭腻苍辞补, and Professor Emeritus, University of California, Berkeley / After nearly 35 years of living and teaching on the mainland/continent, Patrick Kirch returned home to Hawai鈥榠 in 2019 to teach at the University of Hawai鈥榠. Reestablishing five-decade-old connections on Moloka鈥榠, he launched a new research project on traditional Hawaiian agricultural sustainability. In his talk, Kirch will reflect on what it has been like to return home, as or the French say, plus 莽a change, plus c'est la m锚me chose. / Patrick V. Kirch is Professor of Anthropology at UH 惭腻苍辞补, and Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley. Born and raised in Hawai鈥榠, Kirch received his PhD from Yale, worked for a decade at the Bishop Museum, and then taught at UC Berkeley for 25 years.
