March 2, 12:00pm - 1:15pmMānoa Campus, Zoom
The Center for Biographical Research presents: / 鈥淭he Unsaid鈥 / Yasmine Romero, Associate Professor of English, University of Hawai鈥榠-West O鈥榓hu / In this talk, Yasmine Romero will discuss how intersectionality and life writing work together to develop nuanced, alternative ways of thinking about identity and interaction in pedagogical spaces, which, she proposes, opens up spaces of the unsaid. Furthermore, Romero argues that these nuanced and alternative 'ways' can and should lead to translations of academic work in accessible, public genres. Romero draws on her past and current work to exemplify how she embodies this approach. / Yasmine Romero is an Associate Professor of English at the University of Hawai'i-West O'ahu. She grew up in Saipan of the Northern Marianas Islands and Boise, Idaho, and taught English in Japan.
