Matsunaga Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Hui 驶膧ina Pilipili: Native Hawaiian Initiative, the Hawai驶inui膩kea School of Hawaiian Knowledge, and the Departments of Ethnic Studies and Political Science / Thursday, April 14 at 12PM to 1:15PM (HST) on Zoom / Zoom Meeting ID: 991 1226 0590 / Password: 345501 / Meeting Link: https://hawaii.zoom.us/j/99112260590 / This illustrated presentation will platform the [2017-present] K膩leka Po驶e Aloha 驶膧ina Kanaka 驶艑iwi (Native Hawaiian Patriot Card) project that has delivered new, primary-source research from the archives of Hawai驶i directly into over 150 classrooms throughout Ko Hawai驶i Pae 驶膧ina for free, without the support of grants, the university, or the Department of Education. Both methodology and content access will be discussed with the goal of inspiring similar grassroots projects that allow local communities and peoples more power to affect change in the education of their haum膩na. / Dr. Ronald Williams Jr. holds a PhD in history from the University of Hawai驶i at 惭腻苍辞补 with a specialization in Hawai驶i and Native-language resources. He is a former instructor at the Hawai驶inui膩kea School of Hawaiian Knowledge, UH 惭腻苍辞补 and was the founding director of the school鈥檚 L膩hui Hawai驶i Research Center. He has published in a wide variety of academic and public history venues including the Oxford Encyclopedia of Religion in America, the Hawaiian Journal of History, and Hana Hou! magazine.
