Spark Matsunaga: Warrior Poet with Storyteller Alton Takiyama-Chung

Growing up in the poverty of the plantation camps of Kauai, Spark Matsunaga was a warrior, a member of the 100th Battalion/442nd Regimental Combat Team;聽a poet, establishing the position of Poet Laureate of the US; and a politician, serving in the US House and US Senate. He created the US Peace Institute and spearheaded the Redress Bill for Japanese Americans incarcerated during WWII, through the US Senate.聽Having tasted the bitterness of war, this man of compassion always strove to find sweet and everlasting peace.
