Chicano in the Jail Machine: The Art and Politics of Raúl Salinas

Louis Mendoza introduces and leads a discussion of the poetry and life of raúl salinas, who spent most of the 1960s in prison on drug-related charges. While in prison, salinas wrote poetry that became part of the Chicano literary canon. In prison and later, he was involved in the prisoner’s rights and Chicano movements. Mendoza, long-time friend and collaborator of Salinas, has played a key role in editing and presenting his work to the reading public.
