Conference on Korean Women Writers

This two-day conference, titled "Intersectionality of History, Socio-political Consciousness, and Gender: Modern and Contemporary Korean Women Writers and Their Works," will examine the works of more than a dozen noted Korean Women writers. The conference will explore how Korean women writers from the colonial period (1910芒鈧1945) to the 1990s articulated their ideas and views about the landmark events in modern Korean historico-political history芒鈧滼apanese colonial exploitation, post-liberation political and social chaos, the Korean War trauma (1950芒鈧1953), and the military government芒鈧劉s oppression (1961芒鈧1993)芒鈧漚nd their impact on gender identities of Korean women and their social role expectations. Presenters and participants are leading professors and highly recognized specialists in Korean women芒鈧劉s literature, women芒鈧劉s studies, and related fields from Korea and the United States.
