Conference on Korean Women Writers

This two-day conference, titled "Intersectionality of History, Socio-political Consciousness, and Gender: Modern and Contemporary Korean Women Writers and Their Works," will examine the works of more than a dozen noted Korean Women writers. The conference will explore how Korean women writers from the colonial period (1910芒鈧1945) to the 1990s articulated their ideas and views about the landmark events in modern Korean historico-political history芒鈧滼apanese colonial exploitation, post-liberation political and social chaos, the Korean War trauma (1950芒鈧1953), and the military government芒鈧劉s oppression (1961芒鈧1993)芒鈧漚nd their impact on gender identities of Korean women and their social role expectations. Presenters and participants are leading professors and highly recognized specialists in Korean women芒鈧劉s literature, women芒鈧劉s studies, and related fields from Korea and the United States.
