芒鈧揜adio Listeners in Panic, Taking War Drama as Fact芒鈧 read the New York Times headline on October 31, 1938. Many across the country who tuned in late to Orson Welles芒鈧劉 live radio broadcast of H. G. Wells芒鈧劉脗聽War of the Worlds脗聽became panicked, thinking the broadcast play about aliens invading Earth was, in fact, real news.脗聽 Recognizing our current era of smart phones, social media, and instant information芒鈧漮r misinformation芒鈧漚nd the impact of January芒鈧劉s ballistic missile false alert, the UH脗聽Manoa脗聽Theatre脗聽and Dance Association脗聽presents a staged reading of Welles芒鈧劉 drama in celebration of the脗聽80th脗聽anniversary of the infamous broadcast.
Performances take place脗聽Friday and Saturday, October 26 and 27 at 7:30PM, and on Tuesday, October 30, the脗聽80th脗聽anniversary of the original broadcast, at 7:30PM.
