Members of the Tinalak Filipino Education Advisory Council at the University of Hawai脢禄i at M脛聛noa芒鈧劉s College of Education will share their scholarship recently published in the nation芒鈧劉s first themed-issue of Filipino education in 芒鈧揈ducational Perspectives芒鈧, an interdisciplinary research journal focused on education in Hawai脢禄i.

The journal, entitled 芒鈧揥oven Dreams: Threading Filipino Educational Praxis芒鈧 weaves together educational theories and practices to connect and understand the multilayered educational experiences of Filipinos in Hawai脢禄i and beyond.

The presentation will provide participants with a foundation to critically understand K-20 Filipino student achievement patterns and experiences, an expanded notion of Filipino identities through storytelling, and new forms of culturally and linguistic pedagogies that will ultimately serve the fabric of the Filipino community.

Through the process of threading and weaving the stories, the speakers hope to invite participants in a dialogue that revalues the wealth and wisdom that Filipinos bring to K-12 and higher education.
