N脛聛 One H脛聛nau o H脜聧k脜芦le脢禄a: Terrestrializing Cosmic Space in Hakipu脢禄u

March 5, 3:00pm - 4:30pm
Windward Campus, Gallery 脢禄Iolani

Ian Masterson, Coordinator of the Hawaiian Ocean Education Academy and WCC Anthropology Instructor, will discuss the significance of Hakipu脢禄u as the birthplace of the voyaging canoe H脜聧k脜芦le脢禄a. Hakipu脢禄u is where the stars led voyagers coming up from the south, served as a resting place after their long voyage to O脢禄ahu from distant lands, and served as place where they could back sight their homeland while continuing to watch all the stars rise from the sea of Kai Ko脢禄olau.
