Dobet Gnahor脙漏, Grammy-winning songstress from the Ivory Coast, will grace the Orvis Auditorium stage for just one night on February 24th. Widely considered one of contemporary African music芒鈧劉s most exciting talents, Gnahor脙漏 has astounded audiences with her thrilling stage presence, appealing melodies and powerful singing.
Recently nominated for 芒鈧揃est Traditional Female Artist of Africa芒鈧 by the KORA All Africa Music Awards, Gnahor脙漏 sings in seven African languages as well as French and English and she is backed by a Pan-African band. ""Defiantly diverse, musically and linguistically,"" Gnahor脙漏芒鈧劉s songs move from delicate ballads to upbeat African grooves (BBC).
With upbeat choreography and lyrics that address a wide range of social issues from AIDS to gender equality, Gnahor脙漏 芒鈧搈akes everything move芒鈧 (Chicago Tribune). In 2010 she shared an award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance with India.Arie at the 52nd Grammy脗庐 Awards and has released several albums, including her latest Na Dr脙陋 in 2014."
