PUBLIC LECTURE: Technology as a powerful tool for children with disabilities

In this presentation, Dr. Kuniomi Shibata will explore the capability of children with disabilities, and possibilities presented by information technology. Children who are hard of hearing still face great challenges in language learning. Dr. Shibata will also discuss a new Android-based communication assistance software used to express texts with images as an example of the potential in effectively combining education and technology. Dr. Kuniomi Shibata is an Associate Professor of Graduate School of International & Cultural Studies, Director of the Inclusive Education Support Division for Students with Disabilities, and Chair of the Steering Committee, Media Studies Courses at Tsuda College, Tokyo, Japan. He is currently a visiting scholar hosted by the Center for Disability Studies through February of 2017.
