Hawaii: Catalyzing the US-ASEAN Partnership

On behalf of the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law and its ASEAN Law & Integration Center (ALIC), and the Asia-Pacific Law & Policy Journal (APLPJ), we write to invite you to attend the ALIC-APLPJ International Symposium on Governance, Development, and Civil Society, titled 芒鈧揌AWAII: CATALYZING THE US-ASEAN PARTNERSHIP芒鈧.

Our International Symposium will explore various questions on Hawaii芒鈧劉s possible role in the deepening US-ASEAN Strategic Partnership in the new era of rules-based economic integration of Southeast Asia 芒鈧 the most rapidly growing dynamic economic region in the world and to date, the largest net foreign direct investor (28% annual FDI growth) into the United States economy. On November 2015, the United States officially concluded a Strategic Partnership with ASEAN, culminating with the Obama Administration芒鈧劉s hosting of the US-ASEAN Summit last 15-16 February 2016, in Sunnylands, California. The ten Member States of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) 芒鈧 Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Viet Nam 芒鈧 have, since January 2016, officially started the rules-based, single market integration of the ASEAN Economic Community.
