Math+Science+x Seminar: Aina-Based Citizen Science and Stewardship

Dr. Healani Chang and Narrissa Spies will discuss 芒鈧撁娐籄ina-Based Citizen Science and Stewardship at Marae O Kalaeloa芒鈧 at the April 15 Math+Science+x Seminar sponsored by the UH West O脢禄ahu Math and Science departments. Chang and Spies will discuss the goal of the 脢禄Ilima Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) at the University of Hawai脢禄i, which is to increase the pipeline of science majors across O脢禄ahu from high school through college and on to careers and leadership positions in STEM disciplines.

They will also present information about the 脢禄Ilima SACNAS chapter collaborative partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services, Pearl Harbor National Wildlife Refuge, Kalaeola Unit. Through this partnership, students participate in 脢禄aina-based science and conservation biology of endemic plants home to endemic animal species.
