The Office of External Affairs presents this public seminar by Dr. Bo脜戮o Cerar, Ambassador of Slovenia to the United States
A career diplomat, Ambassador Dr. Cerar previously served as Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Canada (1997芒鈧2001), Poland (2004) and as Permanent Representative of the Republic of Slovenia to NATO (2007芒鈧2011). During his career, he was also Head of the Department for Europe and North America (1991芒鈧1992), Minister Plenipotentiary at the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in London (1992芒鈧1996), Head of Minister芒鈧劉s Office (1996芒鈧1997), Head of the Department for Multilateral Relations (2001) and Head of the NATO Department (2002芒鈧2003). From 2005 to 2006 as well as in 2012 and 2013 he served as a State Secretary/Deputy Foreign Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia. He presented his credentials to President Obama in September 2013 and has since served as Ambassador of Slovenia to the U.S. In 2014, He became Slovenia芒鈧劉s ambassador to Mexico with residency in Washington. He is also accredited as a permanent observer to the Organization of American States and CARICOM. Ambassador Dr. Cerar holds a BA in Law, MA in Diplomatic Studies and PhD in International Law. He is the author of numerous articles and books on international relations and diplomacy. In addition to Slovenian, he speaks English, French, Russian, Serbian and basic Greek.
