“Cross-Cultural Conversations”  ***********  Join us for active conversations with students from Eikei University in Hiroshima, Japan. The sessions will be 90 minutes that will be an interactive presentation by a scholar in the field on the topic listed, and then followed by structured conversations in English with students in Japan. Developing cross-cultural understanding assists in becoming more culturally aware. This can be a continual process and it can help to have curiosity, an open mind, a willingness to ask questions, a desire to learn about the differences that exist between cultures, and an openness to becoming conscious of one’s own culturally shaped values, beliefs, perceptions, and biases. ***********  “Importance of Cross-Cultural Communication in Business” with Jett Zenthoefer*********** Monday, January 29,  2:30 pm - 4 pm HST*********** via Zoom. The topics will cover the importance of understanding cultural differences in the workplace and foreign markets, methods that can improve cultural understanding, and why it is important to make sure workplaces are culturally safe.***********  Speaker: Jett Zenthoefer is originally from Centennial, Colorado. He is studying Marketing, International Business, and Economics, as well as pursuing an Undergraduate Certificate in Peace Studies and Peace Corp Prep Certificate with the plan of attending law school after he graduates. Jett aspires to work as an international human rights lawyer for the United Nations.
