Versatility of Scifinder: A Chem Database for Lit Reviews Across Disciplines

October 26, 11:00am - 12:00pm
Mānoa Campus, Hamilton Library, Room 306

SciFinder is a powerful database and tool that can increase your research efficiency. With literature and data curated by experts, SciFinder is a core literature and chemical compound database for chemists and non-chemists that provides useful information and resources to those studying chemistry, biology, health sciences, environmental sciences, engineering, and other related fields. SciFinder allows you to search the literature for applications of chemicals specific to your field. For example, you can take advantage of the “substance role” filter to sift through the literature for specific concepts including therapeutic use, pharmacological activity, agricultural use, diagnostic use, and more. This workshop will cover an introduction to using SciFinder, including registering for a free account and utilizing some of the unique search functions of the database. This workshop is recommended for students of any discipline working on research papers, literature reviews, or dissertations that include discussion of chemical, drug, or substance application or analysis. This workshop is co-sponsored by Hamilton Library. ***Please Note: This is an in-person workshop. Limited in-person seats are available. If sold out and you would like to be added to the waitlist, please email gdevents@hawaii.edu.
