The Road Less Traveled: Garrett Kam

Garrett Kam will speak about his work compiling a two-volume illustrated book about Mads Lange, the Danish merchant who settled in Bali in the 19th century. The 2-volume publication focuses on Bali during the late 18th to mid 19th centuries and is illustrated with over 500 artifacts from this period. The volumes include the background of early history and kingdoms up to the present and correlates events in Denmark, France, Britain, Netherlands, Java, Lombok, Sumbawa, Singapore, Malaya, Siam, Burma, British India, and China during the timeframe. Garrett will highlight some of the hidden messages of the featured artifacts.
