Hawai‘i Community College Associate Professor of Nursing Petri (Pate) Pieron"s compassion and confidence in her students make her a favorite on the Big Island campus. She challenges them with critical thinking and health scenarios that help them understand the curriculum.
Pieron’s presentations of difficult terminology and concepts are clear and interesting, making them easy to comprehend by all her students.
As a student trying to further her own education and knowledge, she reminds them that learning is an on-going experience and encourages them never to give up on the discipline and rigors of their classes.
The Regents’ Medal for Excellence in Teaching is awarded by the as tribute to faculty members who exhibit an extraordinary level of subject mastery and scholarship, teaching effectiveness and creativity and personal values that benefit students.
